Feb 8, 2023Things I wish my teenage self knew before getting into a relationshipDebomitra Das
Satisfaction
Be satisfied with who you are first instead of seeking it in a relationship, at a time when you are learning more about yourself. canva
Negligence
Neglecting other people, specifically your close friends and family for the sake of your partner isn’t alright. They were there for you when your partner wasn’t. canva
Staying guard
Don’t guard yourself too much. It is okay to show your partner your vulnerable side. canva
Happily ever after
Your teenage relationship may not end up happily ever after because, in that stage, you both are yet to find out so much about yourselves. canva
Hurt
There may be chances you get hurt by your partner since young love can be very impulsive or spontaneous. canva
Different experience
Relationships in your teenage years are a learning experience since there’s a mix of happiness, sadness, hurt, excitement, anger etc. You will eventually learn to navigate those feelings. canva
Honesty
Many teenagers don’t value honesty in relationships. They believe a small lie here and there doesn’t matter. But honesty should always be the foundation of any relationship, regardless of age. canva
Individuality
Don’t lose your individuality when you get into a relationship. Your life should centre around one person. canva
Comparisons
Avoid comparing your relationship to those of others. It is quite common to get swayed by others’ grand and PDA-filled relationships in your teenage years. canva
