Last month, Renner shared updates on social media when the area received large amounts of snow. "Lake Tahoe snowfall is no joke," Renner tweeted.
Jeremy Renner, who played Hawkeye in the Marvel "Avengers" movies, was in critical but stable condition in a Nevada hospital on Monday, a day after suffering a traumatic injury while plowing snow.
Admitted to ICU
Renner was in the intensive care unit upon undergoing surgery for his injuries.
Cause of hospitalisation
The actor suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries for which he had to seek immediate hospitalisation.
Heavy snowfall on New Year's Eve
Renner has owned a home in Washoe County, for several years. That area in northern Nevada received heavy snowfall on New Year's Eve.
Only Renner was injured
Renner was the only involved party in the incident, which was being investigated. He was transported to a local area hospital in a care flight, officials said.
Cops responded to 'traumatic injury' call
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that it "responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada" on Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
'Critical but stable'
Renner, who is a father of one, is in "critical but stable" condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident.
The actor's neighbourhood, Reno saw a winter storm hit on New Year's Eve that resulted in 35,000 homes across Northern Nevada's Washoe, Carson, Douglas, Storey and Lyon counties being without power as of this morning.
Fans pray for 'Avengers' star
In a statement, Jeremy's family said they are 'tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative' of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.
Renner, a two-time Oscar nominee, returned to the Marvel cinematic universe in the 'Hawkeye' series on Disney .

Bollywood star Anil Kapoor sent out his prayers and well-wishes for the actor. In a tweet, the actor wrote, "Praying for your speedy recovery Jeremy."
