Could Jack have survived?
Fans insist that Jack could have survived the icy Atlantic waters after Titanic sank, if only he had shared an improvised raft with Rose. YouTube-screenshot
What Cameron said
"It is just one example of how the story of the Titanic "never seems to end for people," Cameron recently said in a press conference. YouTube-screenshot
25 years later
James Cameron conducted trials simulating the experiences of Jack and Rose the night the Titanic fell. He worked with a group of scientists and two stunt actors for the same. YouTube-screenshot
The experiment
Cameron said, “We took two stunt people who were the same body mass of Kate and Leo and we put sensors all over them and inside them and we put them in ice water and we tested to see whether they could have survived through a variety of methods." YouTube-screenshot
Once and for all
In the teaser, Mr Cameron says, "We'll find out once and for all whether Jack could've survived the sinking of Titanic." YouTube-screenshot
What could have happened?
In the first scenario, Jack saves Rose from being pulled under by another passenger, who used her as a floatation device. In another, the duo submerges themselves in water that is below freezing temperature. YouTube-screenshot
The final verdict
Cameron's concludes that Jack would have had a much better chance of survival if the couple had both utilised the door to keep simply their upper bodies out of the water and if Rose had given him her life jacket which would help keep him warm. YouTube-screenshot
James Cameron said...
"Jack might have lived, but there's a lot of variables...I think his thought process was, 'I'm not gonna do one thing that jeopardises her.' And that's 100 percent in character." YouTube-screenshot
